Bottled Water Rush Unnecessary

SAWS is ready to provide city with water under any condition

imageIn the midst of current anxiety concerning coronavirus, stores in San Antonio have seen a rush on bottled water. San Antonio Water System wants to assure customers that the rush to purchase is unnecessary because the water provided by SAWS, as always, has been reliable and safe for use in your normal everyday activities.

Public water systems such as SAWS meet stringent state and federal standards set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality unlike bottled water companies. That includes confirming that sufficient chlorine levels to ensure safety are maintained throughout the system every day.

“Between the quality of our source water, the chlorine disinfection, and chlorine testing, there is no concern about coronavirus being transmitted through our public water system,” said Gavino Ramos, vice president of Communications & External Affairs. “Our water supply is absolutely safe to drink. We are a 24/7 operation and we will continue to provide water to the city under all circumstances.”
